New Jersey Shows & Radio Tour
April 1, 2011 – 10:19 am
Hey Hey people! Thought I’d give you a quick update on my latest adventures. I spent this past weekend leading worship in an awesome church in NJ called Gloucester County Community Church just outside of Philly. We flew into Philly on Saturday and what did we do? Headed straight to the legendary Pat’s and Geno’s for cheesesteaks! Wow they where amazing! Seriously though, how can grilled beef covered in onions and cheese whiz on a hoagie be bad?
We had the opportunity to lead in the three services at GCCC. The presence of the Lord was really sweet. I’ll never tire of seeing hearts (mine included) be moved by the goodness of the Lord. We led “Only God Who Saves” for the second time live. Seemed to connect really well.
With full hearts and full bellies the boys in the band and I parted ways Sunday afternoon as I met my radio promotions pal Mark Giles to hop in the car and head up and down I-95 to say hello to some fantastic radio folks on the east coast. It was a whirlwind few days as we traveled to DC, Baltimore, Lancaster and Williamsport PA, Upstate NY, NYC, and back to NJ. All that in two days!! Really loved getting to say hello and share my heart with each person at each station. I even got the chance to do a few on-air interviews and played a song or two. Here’s some video of me playing “Only God Who Saves” on the air in at WGRC in Williamsport PA.
Still Here!

What’s up people!! It’s new blog time here at JHM. I thought I’d shoot out a few updates. I’ve been back in the saddle here in Memphis for a couple of weeks now and it’s been really great to be back home with my lovely wife and kiddos. There’s no place like home. Next week I’ll be in Nashville doing a little songwriting. I’m hoping it will be inspiring for me. This will be the first time I really get to write with some guys who are “professional writers.” I’m really hoping I can learn a ton just by hanging with some masters of the craft. That’ll be a blast. If you think about it, pray that we get some cool stuff from the Holy Spirit. It’s a humbling and mysterious experience to sit down with a guitar, a pen and notebook and a few hours later realize you might have a full blown tune. It never gets old or ceases to amaze me. That’s a spiritual thing to me that often leaves me asking myself “What just happened?”
Another cool thing is we are in the middle of working on the artwork for the new album “Sound Of The Broken.” Can’t wait for you guys to see the stuff but more importantly hear the new tunes. It’s gonna be exciting to see your response to this album. You guys are awesome and I hope this blog finds you all well. See ya on the road!

We love being on the road. And we love the people we meet. And we’re sad when we have to leave them.
The Weekend
September 7, 2010 – 11:18 am
Hey Guys… just thought I’d sit down a do a little blog about what I’ve been up to the past few days. On Friday we celebrated my little boy Liam’s 2nd birthday. I can’t believe he’s already two! It was a Toy Story birthday of course, and we had a bunch of folks over with their kiddos to jump on a big dinosaur moon bounce that looked like Rex and have some cake and ice cream! I even grilled up some brats and dogs. I took a little video so you can see the fun below.
Saturday morning we headed out bright and early for an awesome weekend of leading worship in St. Louis at an amazing church called Grace Church. We got to share in leading a time of communion and baptisms with everyone there for three services. It’s always cool to see folks making a public declaration of following Christ through baptism and proclaiming His death and resurrection through communion. I so love the sacraments. They are ways we can remember often what Christ has done for us and they remind us to constantly make sure our hearts are right before the Lord.
On Tuesday, the band and I reconvened over at Ardent Studios to record a Christmas song. (I know, don’t laugh, and yes I know it’s September.) We recorded our own version of the timeless “O Come All Ye Faithful” which believe it or not, actually came out sounding pretty cool and fresh. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast it all came together. Creating music can be so inspiring and rewarding on days like Tuesday. And in the words of my producer and keyboard player James Joseph, “Any excuse to use sleigh bells is a good excuse.” I love it when recording is easy and the parts just fall into place perfectly. That can be a rare thing. So I have to remember to enjoy that moment. I can’t wait for you to hear it. We’ll being put it up on the website soon! Be on the look out. Bless you guys and we’ll see ya out on the road in a few weeks. In the meantime, I’m gonna go have some leftover cake!!!

Lately…..
July 21, 2010 – 11:09 am
Hello all you JHM folks! This is a long overdue blog. (Sorry I spend most of my days chasing my two little boys around my house). Beyond life at home and church life we’ve had the chance to hit the road some this summer. Thanks to everyone on the east coast who made it out to one of our shows. We sure loved getting to worship with you guys. We especially wanted to thank everyone who came out this weekend and supported the Qualls family benefit. They were tragic victims of the recent floods in Nashville. The event was called Driven by Love and was the brainchild of the late great Dana Key who went to be with the Lord just a few short weeks ago. Many of you know that Dana had a big impact in my life as a writer and musician. I was honored to be able to play this show in his memory. What a great man.
It was also really great to get the share the stage with a few of my label mates Todd Agnew and Joy Whitlock. They are such great people and great artists. It was nice to spend some time with them. The event was a huge success and I was proud to have been a part. Many of you may have heard about the event on the Klove morning show or may have even seen us on the news. If not, here’s link to the piece that ran that day and more info on ways you can help the Qualls family:

Thanks for checking in y’all! Cheers, JH
